Brazil Trip 2014

As some of you may know I am a PowerChair Football athlete. I am seeking support so I can go to Brazil for a PowerChair Football tournament. This competition is very important because it is a qualifier for the 2015 World Cup. The Canadian team is very short on athletes due to the time and financial  commitments involved in playing the sport. The cost of going to the tournament is $5,000 per athlete; this includes flights, accommodation, meals, and transport for both athlete and attendant. If I am not able to come up with the coin it may result in the entire team having to pull out. Unfortunately our sport receives no provincial or federal funding. The athletes must come up with the funds on their own through family support, fundraising and donations. I've been able to save some of my own money and my family has pitched in what they can but I'm still short almost $3500. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.

Long time, no talk

I am aware that the last blog post was in October and for people who are excited to read what I have to say, I am sorry for the massive delay. The only way for me to start actively writing on a regular basis, though is by posting more than just my writing, but for my first post, I thought the first way to start off is by telling everyone what has been going on.

As some of my viewers may know, I went to University to take Psychology 100; I also took Adult Basic Education English 041 which is the equivalent to grade 11 so now the journey continues at University where I am taking Child Development Psychology and Human Geography which should be very interesting. Since I have a bad memory, you could imagine that Psyc would be a pretty hard course for me to have taken, but as people have said to me in the past, nothing is easy in life and I know that from experience. As for English, the same principal applies for me where I have to work my ass off to get good marks. My goal for this term is to finish my English 12, getting a B or an A- and that alone is going to be tough for me but I am striving to work hard trying to achieve it but it's proving to be difficult for me to do as my reading comprehension is not that great.

I am still playing PowerChair Football (formally known as power soccer). I have been able to get a different wheelchair specifically for PowerChair Football which is not the best soccer chair out there anymore. If someone has between $7000 and $9000, they can get the top of the line soccer chair which is called the strikeforce chair which is able to perform at an international level. According to people that I am/have been speaking with down in the states, whoever does not have a strikeforce chair won't be on the American team going to the next world cup in 2015. My soccer chair has put me out about $3000 so far and I have just one more essential upgrade that I am waiting on which is hopefully being developed and that is the motors. I think the motors I have are pretty good but when I go play with people who have the strike force chairs that have better motors, I do see a difference

As for moving out on my own, I am so excited and can't wait for this opportunity. I was supposed to move in January but there was a "disaster" (fire) in the place they were going to offer me, so my vacancy was delayed. As some may know, I am pretty impulsive and don't like to wait for things so I have been finding this to be difficult to deal with but it will be surreal when it finally happens and since I got pretty much all I need besides a sofa and some tables, I would consider myself to be pretty set for when I move in. Depending on my finances, people may have to bring their own lawn chairs for when they come over...haha; I actually don't think that will happen but keep it in mind. They have said to me that a place will be available in the "spring" months so it should be soon.
